The mission of the Saint Louis Science Center (SLSC) is “to ignite and sustain life-long learning in science and technology.” As a valued community resource, the St. Louis Science Center helps people of all ages investigate, explore, and engage with science through fun and interactive learning experiences.
A Public Programs Educator engages and inspires a large variety of audiences through on and off site programming. These audiences include the general public, schools, adults, families, scouts and camp attendees both on-site and off-site. Using the resources and partnerships of the institution, the Educator is responsible for all aspects related to programming. This encompasses lessons, project development/ delivery while working with a team of highly motivated and experienced professionals.
Provide direction to other paid and/or volunteers, staff or interns related to delivery or execution of a program or event as needed.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Science and/or Education field required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Excellent writing skills for lesson planning and program development. Exceptional oral communication skills and presentation skills in the facilitation of STEM programming with the ability to adapt to diverse environments, events, and audiences.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Driver’s license required.
Must be able to load and unload equipment of at least 40 lbs. necessary for program delivery.
