Responsible for the purchasing and management of the assets (hardware and software) of the Information Technology Department throughout the organization and the maintenance of the Asset Management database. Coordinates staff interaction with all aspects of the telecommunications system.


Places orders and arrange for service to durable assets. Works closely with organization Purchasing Manager, utilizing best practices in purchasing and vendor selection.  Follows up on orders to ensure that materials are shipped and delivered on promised dates. Initiates and monitors returns if necessary. Maintains records and follow up files of purchases, shipments, etc. Inspects products received for quality and quantity to ensure adherence to specifications. Prepares reports in Excel or Word as required.


Controls all inventory items purchased through the Information Systems department from purchase through disposal. This includes, but is not limited to: servers and server components, desktop and laptop computers, printers, printer cartridges, phone instruments, cell phones, software and two-way radios over the entire Science Center campus. Responsible for the functionality of Asset Management Database. Advises management in the creation of internal control procedures and ensures compliance.


Responsible for the maintenance of the organization's telecommunications system, including, but not limited to: VOIP system, E-911, POTS lines, cell phones, and two-way radios. Prioritizes requests for new service, determines methodology for installing telephone service, determines appropriateness of equipment changes or modifications, provide reports, and produces statements necessary for charging departments for phone/cell phone use. Maintains internal phone database. Provides staff training of the telecommunications features and functionality.


Responsible for the interpretation of all telecommunications related billing and advising management of overages or credits.



Minimum: Associate’s degree or equivalent in Business or Accounting



Must have good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Strong self-initiative and ability to exercise independent judgement

Manage complexity in a constantly changing environment

2 years of inventory management in wholesale or retail environment desired

Familiarity with VOIP systems terms a plus.



No exceptional mathematical skills required.



May need to climb up and down stairs and ladders, to walk up to a quarter of a mile, to bend, stoop and lift to move and retrieve materials, to pull/push life and carry up to 60 lbs; to reach above and below shoulder height.


No exceptions beyond general Science Center environment.
