    The mission of the Saint Louis Science Center (SLSC) is “to ignite and sustain life-long learning in science and technology.” As a valued community resource, the St. Louis Science Center helps people of all ages investigate, explore, and engage with science through fun and interactive learning experiences.


    A Public Programs Educator engages and inspires a large variety of audiences through on and off site programming. These audiences include the general public, schools, adults, families, scouts and camp attendees both on-site and off-site. Using the resources and partnerships of the institution, the Educator is responsible for all aspects related to programming. This encompasses lessons, project development/ delivery while working with a team of highly motivated and experienced professionals.


    • Plan and facilitate energetic STEM programming
    • Know and follow the basic procedures and safety precautions of all programs while sustaining engagement and a lively energy level
    • Creatively collaborate in the design and creation of unique STEM programs with internal and external partners
    • Work and communicate as part of a team in all aspects of programming
    • Perform other duties as requested


    Provide direction to other paid and/or volunteers, staff or interns related to delivery or execution of a program or event as needed.


    • Ability to make informed and level-headed decisions in a dynamic environment.
    • Self-motivated to work flexibly, creatively and professionally as part of a team.
    • Must have strong communication skills, patience, and listening.
    • Comfort to interact well with people of diverse ages, cultures and backgrounds.
    • Sustain and adhere to the values of the St. Louis Science Center.
    • Ability to work varied hours, including weekends, evenings and/or holidays.


    • Two or more years of experience teaching in a museum, camp, classroom or visitor focused program. 


    Bachelor’s degree in Science and/or Education field required.


    LANGUAGE SKILLS: Excellent writing skills for lesson planning and program development. Exceptional oral communication skills and presentation skills in the facilitation of STEM programming with the ability to adapt to diverse environments, events, and audiences.


    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:  Driver’s license required.



    Must be able to load and unload equipment of at least 40 lbs. necessary for program delivery.
