    An ideal opportunity for Teachers!

    The mission of the Saint Louis Science Center is “to ignite and sustain lifelong science and technology learning" throughout the community.  The Educator will accomplish this mission by providing support for youth Exploring Science (YES) program with inquiry based learning experiences with an emphasis in Engineering.  The Educator will also participate in the development of new programs and Engineering content, as well as other forms of educational delivery.


    • Assist in development and implementation of “Maker Space”/Engineering component
    • Assist Managers/ Senior Educators in the development of the training module for incoming YES teens to teach elementary groups during summer sessions.
    • Assist Managers/ Senior Educators in the development of the Enginneering component curriculum including projects and lesson plans for YES teens to undertake each Saturday during Spring/Fall sessions.
    • Assist Managers/Senior Educators in the coordination of the program’s outreach and volunteer staff in addition to the progress of each YES teens employee within the ‘component’.
    • Deliver formal and/or educational experiences on and off site.
    • Prepare and assist in teaching workshops.
    • Presents formal and/informal learning activities that comply GLE and Common Core standards
    • Participate in the program development process as a member of project teams, and conceptualizing new programmatic initiatives.
    • Provided input for and participate in ongoing professional development sessions
    • Maintain a well-informed, working knowledge of the YES program.
    • Present college and career readiness experiences, including study skills development, career exploration and college and financial aid applications.
    • Attend staff meetings and training sessions to encourage teamwork, strengthen and promote communication and enhance professional growth.
    • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

    • Ability to work varied hours, including weekends, evenings and/or holidays.


    • Two or more years of experience in teaching in an informal setting
    • Curriculum development experiences a plus.

    Education Required:

    2+ years of undergraduate study in ‘Engineering’



    Expertise in ‘component’; two-three years of relevant experience may be substituted for education.
