The Desktop Support Technician is to provide technical support, consisting of the installation, configuration and maintenance of computer hardware and software, printers and telephones.Respond to technical requests in person, via phone and through the technical support database. Must be able to identify and resolve technical hardware and software issues utilizing both personal skill set and other available information resources, recognizing and escalating urgent issues requiring immediate attention.
Required to support end users by (including but not limited to):
Support all computer software, such as current operating systems (Microsoft Windows, Macintosh OSX), Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher), Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Reader and other applications needed to promote the objectives of the Saint Louis Science Center.
Support all networked applications such as company email, ticketing, fund development, accounting software and network file shares.
Facilitate the movement of SLSC staff to different workspaces and offices. Able to assist the Network Administrator with network changes including hardware placement,wiring for data and voice communications, set up of networked devices, such as printers, copiers, etc. and assist in troubleshooting network anomalies and outages.Monitor system resources and consumable, conduct monthly inventory and report on needed consumable, conduct yearly hardware inventory and software audits.
Associate’s degree with one year of experience.
Good knowledge of personal computer hardware and standard PC applications is required.
Excellent customer service skills with an ambition to learn about new products, techniques, hardware and software.
No exceptional mathematical skills required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
A+ certification is required, Network+ certification desired.
Physical Requirements: Will need to climb up and down stairs and ladders, to walk up to a quarter of a mile, to bend, stoop and lift to move and retrieve materials, to pull/push, lift and carry up to 60 lbs; and to reach above and below shoulder height.
No exceptions beyond general Science Center environment.
