At the Saint Louis Science Center, our mission is to ‘ignite and sustain lifelong science and technology learning’. We seek to make science fun through informal, interactive learning experiences. We are a team of educators, entertainers and science enthusiasts! Our expert staff, passionate volunteers, educational and corporate partners all work together to make the Saint Louis Science Center one of the top 10 in the country.
At Center Stage we try to create a truly amazing experience for our visitors, as well as for you, the presenter. The team of Educators running Center Stage have the ability and resources to demonstrate something that most people have never seen before and have never seen live. We do truly AMAZING demonstrations!
A Part Time Educator at Center Stage is the heart of SLSC’s gallery experience, by engaging visitors in Amazing Science Demonstrations! Laugh along with guests as you explain the digestive system and broaden horizons as you bring the scientific process to life!
Demonstrations: Ascend the ranks of our training program to learn about our Amazing Science Demonstrations. Once you are certified you will get to deliver them on stage in front of a live audience!
Floor Presence: Engage with our audiences (families, schools, general public) one-on-one to bring science to life! Deliver roving demonstrations to guests as well as work floor interactive experiences.
Gallery Presence: Become versed in interpretation and apply it by interacting with visitors in SLSC’s Experience Energy gallery.
Cross Training: Learn the Ins and Outs of the other galleries for opportunities beyond Center Stage!
Physical Demands: It is required that you have good physical stamina so you can be on your feet most of the day. We also ask that you can lift up to 40 pounds.
Flexible Schedule: We host a variety of programs, some outside of museum hours (9:00 am-5:30 pm) a flexible schedule is required to accommodate our needs.
A high energy performer who wants to make science more accessible! Must have the ability to interact effectively with audiences of diverse ages and backgrounds, love working as part of a team, and be a lifelong learner! We’re looking for someone with 1-2 years of experience in a museum setting, theatrical setting or similar work setting required. Certification through National Association of Interpretation is a plus.
BA or BS in a STEM-field, STEM-education, museum studies or other related field required.
